  1. He got the most votes

  2. Like him or not, he successfully captures the anger within the part of the Republican party that just wants to see Obama get killed in the debates.

They hate Obama, and they want a guy who can go after him and bloody his face, and Newt Gingrich is that guy.

If Obama is Hope & Change, than Newt Gingrich is Snarl & Grunt.

  3. He received the most votes.

  4. I cannot understand.
This man is a serial cheater and he basically took a huge bribe (called consulting work) from Fannie Mae of 1.4 billion. Those were 1.4 million of yours and my tax dollars, people. Wake up!

His negative ads towards Romney were despicable. Personally I think of him as vermin and I am disgusted with SC for this vote. I can only hope and pray that Florida and other states are smarter and don’t just vote based on negative truth twisting ads and fun “one liners” in debates. I wonder about what kind of education the “good” people of South Carolina actually get now, probably sub standard in what is called basic reasoning.

Substance and capability are what is called for. Substance means good morale character, decency. Newt surely has not displayed that, and consistently. He may be brilliant, but our leader shouldn’t be a sleazy cheater, people. No way. I am scared if that is what people are thinking.

Many people are “outraged” about Romney’s tax return because Newt has told them to be. What you should be outraged about is a tax code that allows a multimillionaire to take a lesser % tax on investments if you think that is wrong. Personally, I think our entire tax code needs looking at and that all income should be taxed an equal percent for everyone, without deductions and write offs. Those who make more will pay more based on higher income and then we shall equalize us all. Mr. Romney’s tax returns were well within the law, get that?
At any rate, Mitt Romney knows how to make money, his tax returns show us that very positively. He knows what needs to be done to run a business well and work with people. Is there something wrong with that? No way. It’s admirable and the America dream. Let’s let him apply those principles to this country and move forward.
We do not need a “Nanny State” president, more bail outs, socialism, and this cronyism that Newt is responsible for, we need pragmatism and we also need a president who represents to our nation and the world that it’s OK not to cheat on your wife and stay married for years and be happy. We need not elect a person who would cheat on more than one wife, divorce a woman with cancer (sickness and health, remember?) and leave her with kids and barely anything to live on. She actually had to get help from her church for food after Newt moved on to better territory. We do not need a first lady who would cheat with a married man and take him away from his wife and family. She is a slut. Is that the message we want to send to our youth and the world? South Carolina obviously thinks that is OK. I’m ashamed.
By the way, SC people, when I drive south at some point, I think I shall skirt around your state and find another route to travel. I don’t think I want to travel through and support a state that is so “dirty” in their values. I think driving through Tennessee and Georgia might work for me instead. I can’t abide by this travesty in voting, it makes me feel dirty as a country that Republicans would give a nod to someone like this, as Democrats sickened me (and still do) with their support of Bill Clinton after he cheated on his wife. We have to stand up for character and decency, SC didn’t do that at all. Gross, if you ask me. Talk about rewarding bad behavior, yikes.

  5. Because it’s South Carolina.
