Question by Міша: “You lie!” vs. “F&ck the President!” — which is more offensive from Congressman?
When Republican Congressman Joe Wilson publicly accused Obama of lying, he was forced to apologize for his rudeness (though the fact, that Obama was, indeed, lying, was rather obvious to all — Obamacare will, of course, cover all people — illegals included).

Today some Democratic Congressman shouted “F&ck the President” when the Democratic Caucus (and that’s the majority of Congressmen until January) were discussing Obama’s compromise on tax-cuts and unemployment benefits.

The identity of the “frustrated” Congressman is not revealed, and he is unlikely to be asked to apologize or otherwise punished in any way.

Is that Ok with you?

lol.

Well I’d say shouting “you lie” during the president’s speech was more innapropriate (though Wilson was right…he was lying).

Today the United States House of Representatives and Senate both passed their final versions of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012, or HR 1540. This represents the complete destruction of everything that America is supposed to stand for, the most essential of rights have been stripped away and we are left wondering what the traitors in Washington will do next. It has become painfully clear that the true terrorists are not hiding in caves in Afghanistan shooting at NATO troops with rusted second-hand assault rifles, but instead wear 00 suits and stroll happily through the halls of power in the United States. The House passed their final version of the NDAA with a massive majority of 283 to 136 and the Senate passed it with a vote of 86 to 13, once again proving that our so-called Representatives do not represent us in any way and in fact are traitorous criminals and enemies of freedom. No longer do we need to fear our country being attacked by foreign forces hell bent on destroying the American way of life, as these forces can be found calling themselves our “Representatives” while living large on the backs of the American people. The signing of the NDAA with the detention provisions — that is, sections 1031 and 1032 most importantly — intact represents the final nail in the coffin of our once Constitutional Republic. I can honestly say that I previously thought that the PATRIOT Act would be the worst legislation I would ever see in my

It was just a few weeks ago that cuts in Social Security looked like they had been taken off the table indefinitely but recent reports show that the sheer size of the budget deficit are having even Democrats take another peek at this sensitive issue. A Wall Street Journal story on March 21 said that the Democrats had broken ranks and some were favoring raising the retirement limit and other moves to help reduce the budget deficit. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) and Sen. Chuck Shumer are said to be vehemently opposed to any such move, stating that Social Security is in a trust fund and cuts in it would have no impact on the deficit. Dozens of other Senators and the American Association for Retired Persons are also lobbying heavily against linking Social Security to the deficit. There are three Democratic Senators (Mark Warner of Virginia, Kent Conrad of North Dakota and Richard Durbin of Illinois) who are said to be leading the charge of doing just that, negotiating with three Republicans who together are now dubbed the “Gang of Six”. They are looking to cut trillion from the Federal budget deficit over the next decade in part by cutting entitlement programs.Although in theory Social Security is in a separate fund which is not supposed to be linked to the deficit, in fact for decades the government took in more in Social Security withholding taxes than it paid out in benefits. The fund used this surplus to buy U.S. Treasury Bonds, effectively loaning money to the government out of the Social Security fund. The Gang of Six is now looking at raising the retirement age to 69 by 2075, increasing payroll taxes for high wage earnings and “trimming benefits for certain groups”. No elaboration has been given on this plan for trimming, which will face huge opposition from many in the Senate, not to mention the American Association for Retired Persons, which represents those over 50 years old and has a huge lobbying budget. “Nobody wants to hit a buzz-saw called ‘people over the age of 50,’” said American Association for Retired Persons spokesperson Nancy LeaMond. There is no question we have a problem on our hands but it’s surprising that politicians want to risk bringing up cuts to Social Security just prior to the Presidential elections next year. The fund is projected to be solvent through 2037, after which it would only be able to pay out about 75-80% of promised benefits. They come from all walks of life, but they are all concerned about the lack of an inflationary (CPI) increase in their social security payments over the past two years while day-to-day costs like food, gas and medical bills shoot through the roof. I am urging them all to get out and vote. Please, make your voices heard on important issues like this.

Progress Being Made on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid Reform? View From A Private Duty Caregiver in Carmel, Family inHome Caregiving of Monterey, CA

In an interesting power play, six senators, three Democrats and three Republicans (dubbed the “Gang of Six” in the media) have reportedly been having secret meetings to come up with a deficit reduction plan, bypassing President Barack Obama’s call for forming a bipartisan group in Congress. They are trying to fast track the process by coming up with a solution to the crisis by the time Congress returns from their May recess. According to the New York Times they have been working on the process for four months. Democrats are said to be agreeable to putting curbs on the growth of Medicare and Medicaid (Medi-Cal in California) spending as well as some changes to Social Security, while Republicans would accept higher taxes and lower military spending. The group is lead by Senator Mark Warner (Democrat, Virginia) and Senator Saxby Chambliss (Republican, Georgia). The other four members of the group are Senator Kent Conrad (Democrat, North Dakota), Senator Richard Durbin (Democrat, Illinois), Senator Tom Coburn (Republican, Oklahoma) and Michael Crapo (Republican, Idaho). Instead of the draconian cuts to Medical that were in a bill passed by the House on Friday, the group is said to be working on a plan to raise payroll withholding taxes to fund higher costs in Social Security and Medicare as well as some other taxes which could fund Medical. There’s likely to be some cuts in these programs, but the plan being worked on seems to be much more modest on the cost cutting side for seniors and our nation’s poorest on Medical. Stay tuned, this issue won’t be resolved quickly.

In recent news, it seems our democracy is struggling to agree on whether there should be another year long extension on payroll taxes. New York Times states, ?But Senate Democratic leaders said they had no immediate plans to call the Senate back to work out a deal with the House, leaving the fate of the legislation, which would also prevent a 27 percent cut in Medicare payments to doctors, unclear. At the same time, tensions increased between the Senate, which overwhelmingly approved the two-month extension on Saturday, and the House. Senator Scott Brown, a Republican facing re-election in Massachusetts, called his Republican colleagues in the House ?irresponsible and wrong? for rejecting the Senate bill.? Many businesses are on the edge of their seats hoping the extension pulls through. While there has been tons of controversy on this subject, there?s one thing that remains true amidst it all. Rule and Ruin: The Downfall of Moderation and the Destruction of the Republican Party, From Eisenhower to the Tea Party (Studies in Postwar American Political Development)

As the 2012 elections approach, the Republican Party is rocketing rightward away from the center of public opinion. Republicans in Congress threaten to shut down the government and force a U.S. debt default. Tea Party activists mount primary challenges against Republican officeholders who appear to exhibit too much pragmatism or independence. Moderation and compromise are dirty words in the Republican presidential debates. The GOP, it seems, has suddenly become a party of ideological purity.

Today, Echobit, LLC (http://www.echobit.com) announces the release of its next generation social network and toolset for gamers, called Evolve (http://www.evolvehq.com). After an exciting 8 months in closed beta (and adding 8,000 members along the way), the three-person startup has quietly built a platform that maximizes the reach and influence of gamers? and the games they play within the rapidly expanding, increasingly disconnected video game universe.

FRAGMENTATION = FAIL

The video game industry is multiplatformed and wildly incongruent. PCs and consoles have been joined by mobile devices, social networks and tablets to amass a global audience of over 1.2 billion gamers?up from 250 million just a few years ago?an audience with extremely limited ability to consolidate their various exploits into one discrete gaming context. ?Today?s gamers want to remain whole and in control of their gaming lives across any game, publisher or platform,? states Adam Sellke, Co-founder and CEO of Echobit. ?Publishers and hardware manufacturers like Activision/Blizzard, EA, Ubisoft, Valve, Zynga, Apple, Microsoft, Sony and others are all protecting their respective turfs on Battle.net, Call of Duty Elite, Origin, uPlay, Steam, GameCenter, Xbox Live, Play Station Network and the like. That?s nuts. These silos and walled gardens unnecessarily constrain gamers? freedom, so we created Evolve.?

L?EGGO YOUR EGO

Evolve provides gamers an elegant view of their gaming world from a single profile. From it, players are treated to stats, rankings and charts of the games they and their friends are enjoying. Evolve not only gives players a place to roost, but also plenty of ways to crow. ?A big part of gaming is bragging,? contends Sellke. ?Evolve lets you really show ?em who?s boss.? The platform supports the ability to import and aggregate various gaming achievements onto a profile. Also, Evolve members are equipped with ?live? badges for touting their prowess with up-to-the-minute data on sites and forums. Evolve has recently added in-game screen and video capture to help gamers ?prove once and for all that their kung fu is the best,? says Sellke.

QUIT PLAYING WITH YOURSELF

There are a lot of social tools and game tracking/achievement aggregators out there, but no other platform directly facilitates game coordination and connectivity like Evolve. ?Everything we do is aimed at maximizing the gaming experience for gamers,? says Sellke. ?A big part of that is bringing gamers together and reducing the time it takes to actually get playing.? Multi-protocol IM, group chat and in-party VoIP allow gamers to connect, gab and kvetch to each other, virtually anywhere, in real-time. Friendships can be inherited from Facebook. Others are able to be recruited via invitation links that bring players together as friends or into groups and parties. Joining a party establishes a VPN connection in one-click for LAN play and built-in VoIP. One other feature, an industry first, is the party finder?a universal matchmaking system that allows gamers to poll the network for multiple games of interest at the same time. As soon as the system finds others who share the same pursuits, all those concerned are offered a match and, upon acceptance, are instantly placed into a party.

SUMMARY

Fragmentation and platform proliferation threaten gamers? ability to maintain a singular reference point to their gaming activities and limits their social value. Evolve, through its game-agnostic connectivity tools and common player profile is establishing a free, open and universal platform in this space, spanning the void and making it the inevitable solution.
