Question by Fly In the Ointment: Why did Republican Governor Veto a Republican “Birther Bill”? Is Tea Party mad at her?
A bill passed by Arizona’s Tea Party Republicans that would make a candiate show some other form of document like a “cirmcucision form” or Baptism to be able to run, was vetoed. Why did Brewer disagree with the bill? Why did she go against her Tea Bagger movement and Birther followers?

Even crazy Brewer could see this was a racist nonsense bill from the Birthers and Tea Party people. We already had laws in place.

The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) calls on Governor Tim Pawlenty and the appointed members of the Minnesota Ballpark Authority Commission to ensure opportunities are presented for qualified minority and women-owned law firms as the construction of the Minnesota Twins baseball stadium and the University of Minnesota Gophers football stadium gets underway.

?It is essential in the push for commercial law diversity that both stadiums projects provide opportunities for qualified minority and women-owned firms,? said Yolanda Coly, Associate Director of NAMWOLF. ?With such a broad range of work for both stadiums; it is important to make a percentage of that work available to certified minority and women-owned firms.?

Minority and women-owned law firms are encouraged to bid on contracts by calling Sharon Banks of the University of Minnesota at (612) 624-0530 and Jerry Bell of Minnesota Twins Sports at (612) 375-1366.

The construction of the 42,000-seat Minnesota Twins baseball stadium and the 50,000-seat U of M Gopher football stadium is planned to begin late summer 2007. The Twins ballpark is set to open in 2010, while the Gophers stadium will open for the 2009 football season.

The National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (http://www.namwolf.org) was founded in June, 2001. It is a national trade association comprising a select group of minority and women-owned law firms who exhibit excellence in the legal profession. The primary aim of the organization is to advocate for the increased utilization of minority and women-owned law firms by major corporations and public entities throughout the United States.

Question by Chi Guy: Should Obama follow Sarah “Tea Party” Palin’s policy as governor and massively increase taxes on oil companies?
“Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska’s Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry — a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.”

I wrote a letter to Governor Shumlin, opposing the outdated nuclear facilities in the state of Vermont. Governor Shumlin responded in full support of protestors and is willing to fight the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Company, who is suing the state to continue operation. The following is the body of the letter. Please feel free to use any of it to write to your political leaders: Executive Office of Governor Peter Shumlin 109 State Street, Pavilion Montpelier, VT 05609 Phone: 802 828-3333 Dear Governor Shumlin: Please continue your efforts to close nuclear power plants in Vermont. Nuclear energy is not a safe form of energy. As a Vermonter, I am proud of how respectful we are of the environment. We do not want a disaster like Fukushima and our plants have the same design and safety concerns. Please continue to keep Vermont a safe environment for its citizens and protect us from this form of energy. I am willing to conserve energy and find alternative ways that are safer such as wind, solar and hydro forms of energy. Please fight these big energy companies who do not care about contaminating our state. All they want is money. We want a healthy and safe environment for us and our children. Thank you.
